SBSA HEADMASTER TO BE NEW CHAIRMAN OF BSA 2008-9

In September, Melvyn Roffe, Principal of Wymondham College in Norfolk, becomes new Chairman of the Boarding Schools’ Association.

Melvyn has held senior positions in two independent boarding schools before becoming Head of Old Swinford Hospital School and then Principal at Wymondham in September 2007.

Melvyn is particularly keen in his year as Chairman to promote boarding as a happy and successful educational experience for children in today’s world.  In the next edition of The Bulletin, he writes, ‘I hope that we can highlight, for example, the role of boarding schools in providing children with values and an experience of community in a world of broken communities and isolated individuals.’

His Heads’ Conference as BSA Chairman, to be held in Oxfordshire in May 2009, is entitled, ‘Inspiring Places, Inspiring People,’ and will be attended by representatives from boarding schools’ associations in America, Australia and New Zealand.
