Duke of York’s Royal Military School is temporarily a building site

Tuesday 2nd March 2010

Work started this Summer on capital works funded by the Ministry of Defence at a cost of c £8.5 million.  Two major projects are underway:-

Refurbishment of Boarding Houses

Work commenced on 3rd August on the bathhouses in Haig, Kitchener and Alanbrooke.  The old bathhouses have been stripped out and new facilities will be provided.  New, more efficient boilers will also be installed. Temporary facilities have been provided for these three Houses while the work is being done.  The new facilities should be ready in the above three Houses by half term (October 2009) when the contractors will move to the next three Houses.  The plan is that all the bathhouses will be renovated by the end of the academic year.

6th Form Boarding House

Groundwork began on 17th August for our new Sixth form House – Centenary House.  This will provide modern ensuite single occupancy rooms for 60 sixth formers and is due to be finished by May with pupils and staff moving in by September 2010.
