Tuesday 11th May 2010
Four Lancaster Royal Grammar School pupils proved their mastery of knowledge as they beat some of the UK's top independent schools recently in the national Senior Schools Challenge Quiz.
The Senior Quiz Team from LRGS comprehensively beat King's School, Worcester in the final, by 990 points to 480, to become national winners. They were runners up in the 2009 final and were delighted to top their performance this year. To reach the final this year, they beat five-time winners Westminster School in a closely-fought semi-final, winning by 760 points to 670. In the quarter finals they had beaten Perse School, Cambridge by 860 to 680 points.
The Senior Team members range in age from 14 to 18. The team has performed very well at this event for many years, but this was their first national victory. The Junior Team has previously won it three times.
